3/15/2024 0 Comments Civ 5 map editor map options![]() Give me a list of things that I can or cannot do in a game, and it doesn't take me long to build suitable stories around the limits of what's possible.Ĭiv V has eleven columns. Why not? The restriction is harsh but also lends itself superbly to a spot of extra roleplaying, which is just as important as the actual challenge. Goals: Have all 7 deadly sins, become friends with your liege, successfully defend from a holy way. Restrictions: Always kill yourself when you become depressed. Crusader Kings II and Civ V are back in regular rotation on my playlist and that's all thanks to Scenario Generator, a website that rolls up random goals and restrictions for certain games. Most recently, I've been inventing challenges for myself in Dying Light, restricting myself to use of a specific safe house as night sets in, selected randomly from all those I've found, or leaving a safe area in the morning and only allowing myself to turn in for the night once I've managed to complete one or more random encounters. When it comes to open world environments, or strategic sandboxes, I often set my own arbitrary rules to create games within the game. Whether it's the extremes of Dwarf Fortress, which procedurally creates an entire world each time I play, myths and history included, or an RPG that lets me roll a die to pick stats or the pointiness of my elven ears. I'm always very happy to find a game that allows me to randomise my experience to a certain extent. Reinvent an old favourite with the click of a button, as you find out precisely how often you can commit Unprovoked Murder. Scenario Generator is a tool that creates random restrictions, goals and startup settings for a variety of games, and it's the reason I've become happily lost in Crusader Kings II and Civ V again. ![]() If i want to build a map that has the terrains starting on this planet and the drengin over there and the yor here and player one there.Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. We need to have the ability to place starting units even if its limitied to only the base starting units (surveyers probes colonizers and constructors) Need to be able to select a size and shape for nebulasĮithar by having predifined nebulas i can select right down to a 1 tile nebula to build custom shapes or by being able to click-drag/shift click and then press nebula fill to make custom designs ![]() Need to be able to define if they are or are not guarded by pirates.Īlso would be nice if i could somehow set a level of guarding from light to masochistic Tooltips - there are a lot of planet traits and bonus's having a basic tooltip to tell what they do would go a long way to helping me choose the right onesĬ) colonization events - you should be able to define what colonization events will occur on certain planetsĭ) colours - being able to define the colours that a planet uses would be usefull This goes with the whole cut, copy paste thing of number 1 id like to be able to design a custom starting area and then just copy and paste the whole thing to different areas of the mapĪ) planetary preview - preview the planets ( while i understand that many of them have somewhat random layouts there are also some that are specific) if i want a planet that looks like a certain way and cant remember if its iridia or iconia id like to be able to load one up and see what it looks like If you place 20 objects and then realize their in the wrong spot your screwed.Ģ) being able to select multiple objects at a time. I need to be able to select and press 1 button to delete things its extremely annoying to have to select it with the mouse then move over to delete and then back to yes for confirm. Ok so first we need to get some basic editor tools in here The bad news is it needs a ton of work mainly missing features and options So the good news is i havent run into any bugs so far although my playing around with it has been fairly basic. I got a chance to play with the map editor over the last couple of days
